Welcome to SoleFamily Bali’s October Newsletter — a month filled with love, gratitude, and meaningful impact. In this edition, we share our heartfelt journey of creating happy spaces for our SoleBuddies, where care, compassion, and connection continue to grow stronger every day. We’re also overjoyed to welcome Reni to the SoleFamily community — a new light and story of hope that reminds us why we do what we do. Alongside this, our new online auction is now live, featuring even more exciting and valuable prizes for those who wish to bid for a good cause and give back to Bali.

This month, we also highlight our ongoing Food Box Program, which continues to provide essential food items, supplements and medicines to Sole Buddies and families in need — a program that thrives only through your kindness and support. And lastly, a heartfelt thank you to the Hard Rock Foundation for their generous $5,000 donation, helping us sustain mental health support, medicine, and comfort for those who need it most. Every act of giving fuels our mission of healing and hope — and we’re so grateful to have you with us on this journey.
THE HAPPY SPACE
Play is vital for children’s well-being and development. That is why having a playful, safe, happy environment is just as important as the medical services we provide. Recently, our Care and Recovery Centre underwent a beautiful facelift, generously sponsored by our friends at BIWA and Bali Kids Hire to ensure our kids can keep having those joyful moments, even as they navigate health challenges.

This bright and happy space provides a positive distraction during difficult times. Inside they can enjoy calm play, arts, crafts, small toys, and gentle sensory activities. Outside, they have more active play equipment to move their bodies, stretch, swing, and simply enjoy being a child again even in the middle of their treatment journey.
The mural was created with love by HTL PSR, Skinner Ohrami, Larry Istanbul, Ghofur and it has already become one of the favorite elements of this upgraded area. Not only is the wall visually beautiful, it is also intentionally designed as a sensory wall. A powerful tool for our Sole Buddy kids who benefit from tactile, sensory stimulation.
Many toys are often “relocated” home when a child is discharged and we let them. Those toys become part of their emotional comfort when they return to their village and continue their recovery. That means we constantly need to replace toys, puzzles, and games. Thank you to everyone who made this upgrade possible. The kids’ chatter, laughter, and squeals of excitement are the greatest proof of how much they appreciate this space.
WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, RENI

HOPE IN A BOX
At SoleFamily Bali, our Food Box program continues to be one of the most meaningful lifelines for our SoleBuddies and their families. These boxes are more than just groceries; they are dignity, relief, and new hope for those who struggle daily to secure basic nutrition. Each parcel is thoughtfully prepared to make sure that every household we support receives real nourishment, not just temporary help.

Inside every Food Box, we supply various food items that can sustain a family, including rice, cooking essentials, nutritional supplements, and medicines when needed. This support makes a direct impact on physical strength, immunity, mental stability, and recovery especially for those living with long-term illnesses and mental health challenges. Access to stable meals can be the difference between surviving and healing.
You can take part in this mission in a very simple way: buy something and drop it into our Food Drive Box. You can find our donation boxes at Bintang Supermarket, Grand Lucky, Artesedana Sanur, and Soil Food Temple Canggu. Even one added item, a packet of rice, biscuits, canned fish, cooking oil, vitamins can fill a family’s table for another day.
If you want to support on a deeper level, you can help families in Bali by sponsoring a SoleBuddy or setting up a monthly donation to cover food parcels. Each monthly supporter gives ongoing stability and relief exactly where it is needed most. Together, we nourish bodies, we lift spirits, and we help rebuild lives, one box at a time.
LOVE LETTER TO HARDROCK FOUNDATION
SoleFamily Bali would like to express our deepest and warmest gratitude to Hardrock Foundation for their incredible generosity. Their USD $5,000 donation is not only a financial blessing. It is an expression of compassion, humility, and humanity. It reminds us that there are people and organisations in this world who want to lift others up, even if they may never meet them in person. For that, we honour and appreciate this gift deeply.
This support arrives at a very meaningful time for our team and program. Every day we walk into homes, villages, and community corners where mental illness is still misunderstood, feared, or hidden. We meet Sole Buddy clients who are trying their best to be stable again, and families who are exhausted but still holding on. Knowing that we are not alone, knowing that the Hardrock Foundation stands with us; gives us courage to keep going.
The donation will be channelled directly into strengthening our mental health care support. It will allow us to provide medicines that help Sole Buddy clients remain stable, calm, and balanced. Medications, especially for long-term mental health conditions can be difficult to access and very expensive. This contribution will help remove that burden from families who have already gone through so much.
From the bottom of our hearts we would say thank you, Hardrock Foundation. This generous contribution will become stories of relief, stories of progress, stories of joy, and stories of healing in Bali. Your kindness will echo in every home we visit, in every medicine we hand out, and in every smile that returns to a face that once felt lost. Together, we are changing lives, one heart at a time.
